I had the same problem with this one course and this is how I overcame my mental block.
I went to this course by myself and listened to easy, soft music. Nothing hard, as you are trying to keep your heart-rate down. As I listen to the music, I try to picture what shot I am trying to hit. Not the trouble that I have found earlier.
After choosing my shot, set-up and go for it. Don't hesitate after you set up, just swing.
The music plays two parts while you are practicing. First thing is that it a calming affect.
Second is that it helps you to maintain a slow smooth swing.

I would continue to play that course and every time try to focus on relaxing. It will eventually come to you.

SportsBang.com has a golf product featured for helping golfers with their swing and I think it also helps the mental game of golf too. Something to check out.

I used to have a course like that...One of the things that helped me is to relate each hole with one from a different course that you like...Golf is all mental, once you pass that barrier you'll be good to go.

dont think about your game or what course you are on just focus on the one shot you are making at that very moment. if u made a bad shot before forget about it and worry about this one. golf is a mental game and a very tough one. good luck.

If you are serious about golf pick up the book called "Golf is Not a Game of Perfect" or "Your 15th Club" both are by Dr. Bob Rotella. He writes in depth of how to stay in the present and keeps your mental game in check.

I'd say the former. The Sports Psychology would be good if you want to specialize in being a mental coach, but if you want to be a teaching pro, psychology isn't a true necessity. Besides, if you're currently a golfer, you know enough about the mental aspect to be useful without having to specialize in it. The business degree would be especially useful if you wanted to open your own business, akin to the Leadbetter Acadamy or Anika Academy.

At a lot of clubs, the head pro is essentially in charge of managing every aspect of day-to-day operations. My buddy runs everything from the bartenders to the finances at a course near here.

It really depends on what exactly you want to do. Personally, I want to become a PGA member and teaching pro. For this, I'm attempting to enroll in a new college of golf in Florida. The curriculum consists of classes from psychology to swing fundamentals for every part of the game.

Once I complete the program, I'll have an Associate of Science degree in Golf Management. This degree will actually allow me to give lessons, manage a course or even maintain golf facilities.

Essentially, you want to find a course at a college (not many have them) that clearly emphasizes the industry as a focus. Otherwise, look into the school I'm trying to go to or something like The Golf Academy of America. While most academies only focus on golf-related classes, the new one I'm looking at also has a boat load of general education classes as well. Which means I'll have a degree for the industry, but could go back to school another two years back here in Wisconsin and get a business degree from Madison, or what have you.
