In high school I used to struggle with the same thing. The mental game is a HUGE part of this game.
First, I would recommend a few books to you that will help:
"Little Red Bood" by Harvey Penick
and I HIGHLY recommend..
"Golf is not a Game of Perfect" by Bob Rotella
Other than this I can tell you what the key is to shooting consistent scores. The key is maintaining your focus on the shot at hand. Try to not let outside things influence your shots. The only thing on your mind should be your preshot routine, where you want the ball to go, and visualizing the shot. Do not be thinking about what you need to score, how your opponent is doing, what you’re gonna have for dinner, etc.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!!
